| Q - The brand name of your bar mixes is Zydeco's®. What does that mean? A - Zydeco is the name of our spicy Cajun Alligator pictured on each bottle. Zydeco was named after a familiar New Orleans garnish for Bloody Marys, the Green Bean. Zydeco is the Creoles' of Acadiana word for "bean". Zydeco is also the most modern form of Creole music. Q - Are the fluids in Drink Boxes (aseptic packages) pasteurized? A - The beverage is actually sterilized using ultra-high temperature (UHT) process that rapidly heats the product to temperatures between 195 to 215 degrees F. Then the product is rapidly cooled and filled into a sterile package. The speed of the process not only reduces the energy use, but also reduces the amount of nutrients lost in conventional canning styles. Aseptic packaging allows products to be stored at room temperatures without preservatives. Q - Can the Drink Boxes be recycled? A - Yes, the process is called Hydrapulping. This separates the paper (70%) from the plastic (24%) and aluminum (6%). Each part can then be recycled. Q - In the beverage bases, what is the difference between Economy, Supreme, and Superior? A - KFI® Beverage Bases can be made in various levels of natural and artificial sweetener combinations and customized to your needs. We have established different levels of the combinations each indicated by our various labels: Q - When referring to how sweet a product is, I have heard the term "BRIX LEVEL." What does this mean? A - The Brix is a unit of measure (pound solids/gallon) used in evaluating the suspended solids in a liquid to determine the amount of natural sweetener. The Brix of a product is measured in degrees. The higher the number the more natural sweeteners are present (i.e. sugar, high fructose, dextrose, glucose and/or corn syrup).
